This knife is built like a tank
This knife is built like a tank. Solid construction with premium materials. Great job ZT on getting away from ELMAX. The S35 on the 0900 I have seems on par with hardness and edge retention as some of my full customs. I used this knife to cut a 3,000 lb scrap bale of paper apart with and I have been nothing but impressed. It is a smaller knife, but with the ergonomics it fits the hand like a large knife. I wear a size 11 glove (XL) and I have no problems.

This knife is very, very solid, very robust and very heavy duty. When people describe it as a tank or a beast, they aren't kidding. For a small knife, it is built tough. However, even though it is small, the finger guard created by the flipper tab when the knife is opened, the handle's finger choil, and the decent size grip will give most people a solid grip. If you have average hands, I think you could fit 4 fingers on this easily. I have heard folks with bigger hands can still get a good grip because of the handle's design your pinky rests on the handle's slanted butt end. It might be small, but it is designed to feel like a much bigger knife. The knife blade is very wide. The finish is perfect. The blade stock is thick all the way to the tip, which I love. It came very sharp and the flipper is smooth and easy to manipulate. I do wish it had a thumb stud or secondary opening option, but that isn't a ding on the knife's build or quality, but rather my personal preference. The pocket clip is a little dinky for such a robust knife. I wish it was thicker/longer/something better, but it is a deep carry at least, which is nice. The handle feels a little slippery with the full titanium and no traction, but I haven't dropped it yet. I bet it would be slippery with sweaty hands or oil on the handle.

I would recommend this knife 100% all day long.

I really like the size. It's smaller than the normal 3.4 - 4.0 inch folders you typically see.

But, it's certainly large enough to really do anything the larger knifes can do.

I now prefer the smaller size for carrying in my pocket.

Expect the typical Zero Tolerance high standards of material and workmanship.

The flipper is a bonus. It makes the knife super easy to open.

There is one kind of big issue with the knife. It's something I've had a problem with and everyone I've had play with the knife encounters the same issue. I'm not sure why more reviewers haven't pointed it out (or had the problem?).

Due to the short handle and extreme blade point the knife continually nicks the fatty part of my thumb. If you have a tight grip on the handle this part of your hand naturally shifts inward putting it directly in the path of the blade as it deploys. This causes the tip of the
blade to cut you when you flip out the blade.

I have medium sized hands and this happens a lot. It's a greater problem for larger handed people who have used the knife.

My ZT Sinkovich doesn't have this issue so it's a comparable knife that you may want to consider.

This is a great knife. No argument there. Tough, smooth action, and feel's great in your grip for such a short blade. The negative - the belt clip. I've now lost two of these knives. I called customer service to explain, and to recommend they consider a design change. They were nice and they did thank me, but after losing two knives worth nearly $200 a pop, I might have expected something more. Still, I don't have any hard feelings, but I do want folks to be aware of this, and if possible, take steps to avoid what happened to me.

I use(d) this knife as an everyday belt item...it went next to the one Leatherman multi-tool that I have owned for 20 years plus. I rely on my tools for outdoor use - utility. I'm constantly bending, hiking, lifting or just sitting by the fire pit. I began to notice that this particular knife rode up on my belt. It even popped off once or twice. I also noticed that I had developed a bad habit of checking for it with a quick hand brush. However, because I liked everything else about the blade, I kept it on duty. And that's how I lost the first blade. And still, before I realized that maybe I wasn't entirely to blame, I bought a replacement. As of yesterday while shoveling snow, that knife also disappeared.

The customer service person told me that the belt clip was aluminum. That makes sense given my experience... it was stiff, but still had perhaps a bit too much bend. I would prefer a much more "beefed-up" clip. Another issue is that the belt opening on the clip (length) is just over an inch long, and toward the end, the screws holding the clip to the knife reduce the inside 1/8 of an inch height/clearance to perhaps 1/16th. This means that almost the last 1/4 inch of that belt opening is thinner in height/clearance. Well, my belt, which is just your average black leather solid performer, is 1/8th of an inch thick and just a shade wider than 1 and a 1/4 inches. So, short story, the clip never bit down securely because the belt was wider than the clip's open length. So, I'll take partial responsibility for not noticing that issue, but at the same time, this is pretty much the size of all my belts. I don't do whisper thin or crazy thick belts, unless I'm packing something with far more punch than a knife. So, for these reasons, I have to give an overall rating of 3 stars. If the company changes to a stronger clip material - maybe titanium like the blade - or figures out to lengthen the clip opening to accommodate slightly wider belts, than I'm back in, because I do love the rest of the knife design.

UPDATE: The knife that was lost in the snow was recovered after the melt. No rust, and as good as when I bought it. On the clip, I am taking Buzz's advice to swap in a titanium clip. I will also experiment with a slightly longer clip to see if that holds better on my belt. In the meantime, this knife is still my choice for daily duty. The feel and performance for a small blade continues to be fantastic. All things considered, I am revising my original rating to 4 stars.

This knife came 'dull'..., and I mean, really dull. Within 6 months I sent back to ZT for sharpening. Held (without excessive and abusive use) sharpness for about a week. This is the worst blade I have spent money on. I'll never buy another ZT blade again!!! (I own Benchmade, ESEE, Emerson, Spartan, Toor, Schrade - this is by far the most inferior blade).

Bah! Nice compact knife but mine was way too hard to get the flip started. I read the directions about not accidentally pressing on the lock while deploying, but that didn't help. Given all the 5-star reviews, I can't help but think my ZT0900 was defective.

This is the perfect folding knife for me. It's a great size to ride in my front jean pocket all day and I don't even notice it's there. When I need it, it's sharp and ready to go. The construction feels very solid to me and I think it looks great too. Granted, I'm not abusing it, but I think it could deal with a lot more than I put it through and be alright. How can you go wrong with stainless and titanium?
