From the manufacturer

Zero Tolerance

A cut above the rest

From fierce combat knives to lightweight EDCs, Zero Tolerance consistently dedicates the iconic brand to offering premium-quality, professional, hard-use knives consumers can depend on. Zero Tolerance knives are manufactured with premium blade steels, high quality handle materials, and dependable locking and opening systems.

Zero Tolerance

Zero Tolerance Sinkevich Knives

Custom knife and toolmaker, Dmitry Sinkevich, has collaborated with Kershaw and Zero Tolerance to achieve some of the most elegant, everyday carry folding pocket knives designed with clean lines, sleek looks and solid ergonomics. With practical design and enhanced detailing, Sinkevich’s characteristic clean and practical design is adorned by knife lovers everywhere.

Sinkevich Features

knife blades, blade coating, blade finish, kershaw blades, kershaw blade features, knife coating

pocketknife opening, knife opening features, knife opening, assisted open knifes, switchblade knives

locking system, knife locking, locking knives, kershaw locking, secure locking, pocketknife lock

Attractive Blade Finish

When a knife design requires a lighter blade to highlight the steel, Kershaw often applies a satin finish. Satin finishes, whether machine-generated or otherwise, leave faint patterns of lines on the steel, and while they sand away the steel’s brightness, they do not remove it as completely as do other finishes. A satin finish also helps reduce evidence of stains and scratches on the blade. Depending on the knife’s design, Kershaw’s non-reflective stonewashed finish may be either pronounced or subtle, but in both cases, it transforms the blade by creating a fade-resistant, scuffed look that hides smudges and fingerprints. A stonewashed finish, achieved by tumbling a blade with ceramic stones, enhances a blade’s rugged appearance as well as its indestructibility during field use.

Fast Deployment

Using 'caged' ball bearings for smooth blade deployment and overcoming stronger knife detent, the KVT Ball-Bearing Opening System makes one-handed knife opening fast and easy without the need of a mechanical assist. Ball-bearings surround and freely rotate around the pivot. When the user pulls back on the flipper, the blade rotates out of the handle as the ball bearings roll into place.

Secure Locking System

Kershaw’s frame lock design makes knives safer, securer, sturdier and quicker for one-handed blade deployment. The knife handle, or frame, has two metal plates on either side of the blade, and when open, the lockbar butts up against the blade’s backend to prevent blade closure. To close the knife blade, push the frame to the side to unlock the blade and fold the blade back into the handle.

Additional Features

knife flipper, flip open, flip open knifes, switchblade knives, assisted opening knives, switchblade

durable handles, knife handles, handle features, knife handle types, pocketknife handle

knife pocketclips, kershaw pocketclip, pocketknife pocketclip, knife clips, pocketclip

Manual Flipper

Flippers on manual-open knives require user to push with quick strength until blade deploys. Some manual flippers disappear when blade deploys, others become a finger guard. Manual flippers appeal to inexperienced users as well as experienced users who prefer a classic, old-style opening. In both cases, ambidextrous flipper works as index finger applies pressure while closed knife sits in palm.

Durable Handle

Titanium is a lightweight metal alloy and it offers excellent corrosion resistance. Heavier than aluminum but still lightweight and strong, titanium is a very sturdy material often used in knife handles, locking liners, or as a blade coating to enhance performance. Titanium is a sleek, stylish, premium material that’s excellent for the ideal everyday carry.

Convenient Pocketclip

Kershaw designs pocketclips to fit specific knives according to their weight, intended end use, size, style and hardware. Some knives have multiple carry options, others are more streamlined. A pocketclip with tip-up carry is positioned so the closed knife carries in the pocket with the tip of its blade pointed upwards. A reversible tip-up or tip-down pocketclip allows user to change tip position.

Product Description

From Zero-Tolerance’s popular 0450 original, comes the 0450CF, now with a carbon fiber handle, a dark, refined appearance and even more staggering style. The 3.25-inch high-performance blade is made from S35VN stainless steel for amazing toughness and corrosion resistance, and a sharper, longer-lasting edge. The blade’s DLC (Diamond-Like-Carbon) coating lowers friction and enhances performance through increased hardness and wear resistance, while simultaneously adding intensely sleek good looks. The 0450CF’s handle features a carbon-fiber front scale for a solid, balanced knife construction and lightweight convenience. Manually open with ZT’s KVT ball-bearing system, deploying the blade smoothly and quickly, and confidently operate while the DLC-coated titanium back handle scale’s frame lock secures the blade open during use. Zero Tolerance crowns the durable 0450CF with a reversible pocketclip and two emerald-green anodized aluminum tube spacers for a discreet touch of personality.

Maybe the Best EDC for the Money
I have looked over this knife for a while and the reviews seemed mostly positive. So I decided to go ahead and order it. Packaging was adequate and the knife was bubble wrapped inside the box. Fit and finish were very good and the blade was seated about perfectly in the middle. The blade grind is fantastic and near perfect symmetrical. The knife is fairly lightweight and the pocket clip is adequate although it seems to be stainless steel. The deployment is very fast and smooth. As others have mentioned, getting the blade past the bearing detent for deployment is a little stiff. It does cause a little bit of discomfort the first few times your deploy the blade but if you just do one firm press then it hasn't been an issue for me. I actually do like that it is tighter closed so it won't accidentally open in my pocket or if someone else is handling it. I think it would have been nice to have a thumbstud as an option to deploy the blade but the look is overall cleaner without it and it is one less thing to catch on your clothes or pocket.Another issue I had read about before buying seemed to only come from one reviewer and it regarding the liner lock. The issue I read was that once deployed, if held firmly that the liner lock would squeeze all the way to the opposite handle causing the lock to just about fail. I have not experienced this and feel like that reviewer might have got a defective knife. The blade locks up nice and tight and coming from older titanium frame lock knives, I really appreciate the steel plate in the frame lock so that the hardened steel of the blade doesn't have to lock on the softer titanium in the frame. This would lead to faster wear on the titanium which could compromise the lock at some point. Also the steel plate is removable which mean it is potentially replaceable which would make lockup nice and tight again if needed. The Spyderco Sage 2 is a great knife and has possibly the best ergonomics I've ever felt on a knife. It fit the hand and felt like just an extension of the hand. The 0450 isn't quite that same feel but it is excellent for my medium sized hands. The flipper comes around and acts as a perfect finger guard along with the shape of the handle. I have little worry of my hand being somehow able to slip past the guard and cut myself, It seems improbable if not impossible. The jimping on the back of the blade is fairly aggressive. It is sharp enough to add real grip but not enough to catch your pants or cut your finger. I would have loved to have a crowned spine on the blade to make this more of gentlemens knife but having the flat spine leaves less chance of your finger slipping. What I really like about this knife as an edc blade is the slender and slim profile of the knife that makes it very easy to pocket. It just doesn't take up that much room in your pocket and yet offers a long and very functional blade. The pocket clip is a bit plain and tacked on. I immediately ordered a titanium deep pocket carry clip to replace it and wish it came with one to begin with. Still the pocket clip works and doesn't kill your pockets too much. The blade is a little aggressive in design and I only mean that as in people might be slightly scared seeing it. It has an unsharpened swedge and has a very long and sharp point which makes it look more "tactical." However it has a good sweeping and functional belly for such a thin knife. This is my first knife using S35VN but have used everything from 440c to 154CM to VG-10 to D2 to S30V. S30V is one of the best blade steels I have used in terms of corrosion resistance, edge retention, and ease of sharpening. It is just a fantastic steel for pocket knives and I don't think many people would dispute that. S35VN is nearly the same but supposed to be tougher and easier to grind and work on with the addition of the niobium to the formula. So far I have no reason to doubt that is the case. Either way these steels were made for knives and it shows. If I had to make one complaint it would just be a minor design issue. On the frame lock side of the knife the two screws that hold the red standoffs just terminate into nothing. You simply see the flat bottom of the screws on the handle opposed to knives that use screws on both sides of the handles. This is only aesthetics and has likely no effect on function but considering how elegant and stylish this knife is, it would have looked even nicer with screw heads on both sides. It is such a minor non-issue but something I noticed.I have owned and handled many knives and I have to say this is close to my idea of what a perfect pocket knife would be. What I want from my pocket knife is solid quality construction, titanium handles, RIL or a liner lock of some kind, high quality but easy to maintain blade steel, functional blade grind and shape, good ergonomics, and small and light profile for edc. The Zero Tolerance 0450 meets all those requirements for me and even adds a few new ones. The price is absolutely reasonable for the quality construction, design, and materials on the knife and that makes this very easy to recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this EDC knife.
Reviewed in the United States on March 28, 2017
This knife gets lots of good reviews and I can see why. Ever since I got my ZT 0566 last year, I have been in love with flipper knives. I love my ZT 0566 blackwash, but I also really love the Sinkevich design of this knife. I love the looks of the titanium one because it's sleek and clean. I've seen it referred to as a "gentlemen's folder" more than once and I can see why. It's a beautiful knife. It came very sharp and the KVT bearing system makes the blade deployment very smooth. I think the size of the knife is just about perfect. I have medium sized hands and I can grip it very comfortably. It's also very lightweight at only 2.9 ounces. I don't even notice it in my pocket. When I pick up my ZT 0566 now, it feels so large and chunky in the hand compared to this one. The 0566 weighs around 5.4 oz as well, so you can also feel the difference in weight when holding them.

All in all, this is a great knife and you get a decent sized blade (3.25") in a relatively small package. The only thing I don't like about this knife is the factory pocket clip. There's nothing wrong with it and it works just fine, but it's not a deep carry pocket clip, so it will leave about half an inch of your knife exposed from your pocket. I don't like that and prefer deep carry pocket clips, so I ordered an aftermarket one from a company called MXG Gear and it works great. If you've been on the fence about this one, I definitely recommend it.
