Good camera, low visability and no IR glow!
4 Stars
Good camera, low visability and no IR glow!
Comparing this to other cameras with "low glow" this one is truly "no glow". The camera unit itself is larger than others I have but it's not huge, just taller. It also takes 8 batteries as opposed to the 6 in my other cameras. A few things a "less good" but not huge negatives. The small screen is nice to preview the pictures, but both the lens and the screen are on the "door" so you don't get a live preview of the image. You need to close the door and trigger the picture then open it and put into the setup/menu mode to check your aim. Not great but better than pulling the memory card and reviewing the images that way. The system is also a little slow to boot up so don't be in a hurry when previewing the images. I can't comment on how long the batteries last, but it's at least 4 weeks. The battery level only shows when you go to the setup menu it's not horrible but not as quick or convenient as other cameras I have which show the batter level on an LCD when it's turned on.I think my biggest complaint is the small black cable that runs from the battery box to the front cover. It seems like it's exposed and could be easily damaged.Picture quality is good, and the camera adds a time, date and temperature (in F/C) stamp across the bottom of the image (along with the Bushnell logo and Trophy Cam text)Update 12/16/18I bought 3 of these cameras and have had them out for just over a year, deployed around my yard. One of the cameras has died, the menu button doesn't work although the camera does turn on, but that button failure has made the camera useless since you need to use that button to program the mode. A bit disappointing that it failed in such a simple way - no moisture, dirt or insects inside. I think I'm now just outside the warranty period too... so there's a throwaway of $150.One note on the battery life, it looks like it has lasted 6 months taking only a few pictures a day (no video). So that's pretty good.See the pictures - looks like we have a mountain lion that uses the trail behind the house... good to know not to be out alone on a dark night. Yikes!!!!

I purchased this for my mother so she could watch the deer. I did end up getting the solar panel for her, but the battery life wasn't too bad. She hadn't realized what kind of wild life she had in the back yard until this camera. We knew about the deer, turkeys, and even a couple of raccoons. Since the camera going up, she found a fat happy woodchuck eating everything in the garden and living under the shed.

I have been using this camera for a few months now. This is a poorly made product for the amount of money being asked for...The battery terminals don't stick out enough on the unit so its hard to even get a solid connection so that the camera will consistently operate. I left it in the field for a week and it only operated for two days before shutting down. I am assuming its a power issue, but could be something else. Second playback of videos using the camera itself is horrid and I get static lines on about 75% of the screen. Right now i'm just trying to get the thing to turn on with new batteries and its not working. Its also ridiculous that there is no option to take the Bushnell logo off the footage - I have to play around in a video editor just to remove it which hurts the image quality.

Overall, for the price of this product I would expect it first and for most to work consistently, especially considering its supposed to be a trail camera meant to handle what mother nature throws at it and secondly for the camera to be well made and built with some quality - its one of the most expensive trail cams on the market advertising all kinds of bells and whistle from a company that I thought had a good reputation.

I would not recommend this to anyone else and will be looking to buy from a different brand with better reviews.

Updated September 2020:
Product is no longer holding the settings. It has spontaneously added the ugly time stamp and refuses to go into hybrid mode anymore. I’m missing tons of wildlife shots because of this. This is a pricy camera to be failing so quickly. I’m hoping for a callback from Bushnell tomorrow.

Update September 30, 2019...
Camera was working like a charm for about a year. Then in the last couple weeks, it decided to stop recording video. Of course I changed the batteries and the card, and the camera is still malfunctioning. I can’t even get the menu to display either. I’m sitting on hold with technical support and they must have only one person taking calls. I will update again to report how well they support their products.

I had a more basic Aggressor model, and then I got this. I really appreciate the image quality, and the more attractive menu display. The Bushnell trail cams in general have a simple yet excellent weather seal. They are easy to open in the field with "mitten gloves" (where the fingers stick out after you peal back the mitten flap. I wear nitrile gloves as a base to avoid frost bite.) These survive and keep functioning even in the most brutal winter storms like the Upper Peninsula of Michigan can dish out. I've seen some miserable deer plodding along in blizzard conditions thanks to these cameras. Only one time did I have one freeze to a tree. I had to take hot rocks from the house to melt the ice off the buckle so I could thaw the camera out in the house. These do a nice job of keeping the batteries in place too where they continue to make contact even if an animal decides to try to tamper with the camera, or you are moving it to a new location.

I'm not sure if I just got lousy batteries (Menard's alkaline house brand) but they last less than 3 weeks while having this camera set up to take 3 still pictures and video. I did not have it set up on a feed lot either, but a relatively popular trail where many animals did linger to sniff. I have since switched out the batteries to the longest lasting ones I could find. I am hoping for greater battery life. (In the more basic model, I had the camera set up for images only, and Energizer Gold batteries lasted 7 months.)

I have also read where the SD card capacity is 32GB. I inadvertently used a 64GB card for a few days, and saw no problem. I'm not sure if I am pushing my luck or not.

I now get to spy on all the animals who avoid me as I'm walking in the woods. I got the camera to see the bob cats, but so far they have eluded me, as has the huge wolf I have seen tracks for. I have been pleasantly surprised to see fisher cats, porcupine, skunks, foxes, coyotes, a smaller wolf, numerous black bear, raccoons, boring squirrels, blue birds, all manor of deer (including an 8 point buck and a spotted fawn), as well as a pursuit by a coyote, and a random roaming tabby cat. I know there are beaver around here too, but I will have to move the camera to spy on them.

I highly recommend this camera if you love nature and animals, or if you want to find out "who" has been coming by and doing what.

Setup directions are easy to follow. This is an upgrade from my previous Bushnell Cam. It takes great pictures during the day and at night it even picks up the small critters, like skunks. It's also useful for property security.

If you decide to buy this camera, go ahead and drive to your local Wal-Mart and buy every AA battery they got! This camera drains batteries fast!!!
I was impressed by the video and camera quality day and night. Just be sure not to hike 2 miles into the woods without a fresh pack of batteries in the camera.

This camera takes excellent pics and videos. Coyotes stare right at it though. It hasn't spooked them. Deer walk right up to it. They definitely Don't see it. I can't see any glare at night. People will not know they are being videoed. Which is good because I have caught many a trespassers that I didn't know was coming on my property.

Reviewed in Canada on April 18, 2020
I just got the camera and have only used it once. The adjustable web belt for mounting the camera has a very poor clip. Previous Bushnell cameras I have bought had a better quality clip. This looks like an example of someone trying to save a 1/2 cent by substituting a simpler but much poorer functioning clip. As well the item is described as having a "Color Viewer". I assume this meant you could view your photos on the camera without removing the SD card or attaching the camera to another device. Nope that is what the instruction manual says you have to do. What the "Color Viewer" is, at this time, is a mystery to me. The pictures the camera took were very good.
