I figured this would be decent, but it completely blew me away!

I figured this would be decent, but it completely blew me away!
This pack was MUCH better than I anticipated. It's about exactly the size I figured, but the level of detail is amazing. The LEAST-impressive pocket is the vertical slot on the front. See the long piece of webbing with the snap in the seller product photos? That keeps the zipper up so your stuff can't fall out. There's also molle-style loops across the front. This is a thin pocket, though, with no subdivisions inside. Every other pocket on this bag has the zipper running about 3/4 of the way around the pocket, so it opens almost completely flat. This is phenomenal since it makes the subdivisions in those pockets easier to load, easier to browse/use, and takes the bag from a mere pouch of stuff to a kind of work center. There's a simple side handle in addition to a hanging loop AND a padded handle on top of the bag when it's not slung. As you wear it the water bottle carrier is on your left, with side-panel molle, a D-ring, and a loop you can cinch down on your right. The main shoulder strap has three separate areas with two rows each of molle (no subdivisions of the horizontal span, though), plus a 2" tall loop of webbing and a metal clip. The back also has a giant Y-shaped strap that can put tension on the pack to keep it from sagging backwards as you wear it. Both the main shoulder strap AND the stabilizing strap have clips, so you can take it off in whatever manner you tend to prefer. The back itself has decent structure and support, plus a decent amount of breathable mesh and padding. Oh, and in case that's not enough, there's a semi-hidden zippered pocket that is the size of the entire back which you could use to either store more stuff or add as much internal support/padding as you want.Pics are included on this review, but to summarize:- Top pocket has a wide pocket (~3x7") and three elastic loops (2"h x 2.5"w)- Large bottom pocket has key clip and a single big pocket (~4x8) inside the "door"- Main pocket has two slip pockets on the back wall (side opening, top is big enough for an iPad mini) and the door has a side-opening slip pocket the full height/width of the door, plus a pair of zippered mesh pockets and a webbing clip that can help keep things in the slip pocket from falling out loose.Having taken the pack on a few excursions now I can say that it is as stable as a rock, even when carrying a bunch of water bottles. It doesn't swing or sway and even loaded up it stays close enough to your back that you don't tend to hit nearby stuff when you turn around. It doesn't have the storage of, say, a full-size backpack, but if you plan out your storage carefully using all of the pockets available you shouldn't be lacking much. It won't hold a bunch of textbooks, but it should hold everything you need for a day trip, or a hike, or for work trips. And to top it off, the bag is surprisingly cheap for all of the features it offers. I'll wear this one out someday and happily buy another.

We went to the state fair with this bag. It is a great design, and it carries so comfortablly. When we were in a tight crowd I pulled the sling and brought it around to my chest for added security. There are even ways to tie down your zipper pulls so that a thief can't easily open your bag. The zippers are arranged now that you can get in every pocket without removing the bag. For the price and the quality this is about 100+ dollars less than other very similar designs. Well worth your attention. I'm very happy to buy a bag like this without the buyers guilt for spending too much. I suggest expanding the selection of colors. The black got hot in the sun. Maybe snow camo? Or whatever color. Also, I was able to fit an older laptop I had laying around snugly into this bay's main compartment, an HP Pavillion dv6700. It is 15" and not slim at all. I tried to post a pic, but the Amazon app isn't cooperating with that.

So I wanted to wait a few weeks before writing a review because it seems that so many of the bags in this price range seem to fall apart after a limited amount of use. Following are the pro's and con's of this bag, as I see them:

Pro's: The bag seems to be reasonably durable, and it is sized as described. People who complain about these bags being small must not be reading the dimensions. It's not a full sized 40 litre backpack, folks. I have approximately 10 pounds of gear in the bag, and so far, the zippers, clips, straps, etc., are all holding together nicely. I do have a concern that the top handle will not last long. It is flimsy, the stitching is not heavy duty, and the material is stitched onto a very small area, so the stress on that small bit of cloth is high and is likely to rip sooner than later. I love the back pocket which can be used for a water bladder or carrying other, "concealed" things. The best aspect of the back section is that it is zippered shut. Many bags in this price range have a top snap and that's it. It's too easy for something to fall out if those bags tip upside down. Lastly, the external water bottle holder is a nice feature, no need to buy a molle attachment.

Con's: My biggest beef is with the way the inside pockets are oriented. They load from the side, not the top. so if you open the bag in a standing position, everything spills out! you have to open the bag on it's side, with the water bottle side down, which of course makes for an unstable, wobbly base. Fairly poor design. Very few of the pockets have any kind of closure, be it velcro, zipper, or snap. they are mostly just a flap of material. Stuff falls out when you can't secure it! Pretty annoying.

Summary: It's a decent bag, and i don't regret buying it. When it does wear out, I'll be looking for a bag with more pockets, properly oriented inner pockets, and a more durable top carrying handle.

I am a type one Insulin Dependent Diabetic. Exercise is a key to controlling my Diabetes. I live right off of the North Central Railroad trail. I walk and hike this trail quite a bit. I bought this bag for my short day hikes. This is perfect for that. It has several different compartments in it for me to pack my Diabetes supplies, snacks, and other items needed for a day hike. This is a nice size and has a strap that buckles in the front to give you support. This is a great bag for daily trail hikes.
