- Reviewed in the United States on March 21, 2025Color: Black Grivory - Drop-Point BladeStyle: Plain EdgeVerified PurchaseThe Mini-Griptillian is a good EDC knife. It is not as big as the regular/large Griptillian, but that makes it less cumbersome when clipped onto the pant pocket. Sharp out of the box, easy to flick open and the lock mechanism is rock solid. Benchmade quality.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 30, 2010I ended up buying this knife (in black) from Knives Plus [...] since amazon could not seem to get it together for this purchase.
The Benchmade Pardue Mini-Griptillian came reasonable sharp out of the box. It has thumb lugs on both sides for ambidextrous opening. The action is smooth and it opens easily with thumb pressure and flicking the wrist. The blade locks in place pretty solidly with just the tiniest bit of play. The "black glass filled Noryl GTX and Valox handle" has a nice tacky feel and is easy to grip in the hand. The only complaint is that the unlocking lug seems to stick a little and takes a little effort to disengage. This may loosen up with break-in use. A nice feature of the knife is that you can reverse the clip to the other side for left handed use. I did this since the knife was a gift for my son and he is a lefty. A minor annoyance is that the head of the hardware holding the thing together is machined in a star shape (don't know what this is called)so reversing the clip required a trip to Lowes for a new set of star shaped wrenches. I guess allen heads went out of style!
Like I said, this knife is a gift to my son and it's his first pocket knife. He loves it, so notwithstanding the minor issues above the Black Mini-Griptillian gets five stars.
It took Amazon 5 weeks to refund my credit card - story below.
ORIGINAL REVIEW
I ordered this Benchmade knife Benchmade Pardue Design Mini-Griptillian Combo Edge Knife with Olive Drab Handle as a Christmas gift for my son. When the box (FROM AMAZON) came it did not contain the Benchmade knife, it contained a game for XBOX Assassin's Creed and a receipt for the Benchmade knife. I called "Customer Service" and spoke to an Indian dude, in India. (HEY AMAZON, HIRE AMERICANS!!!!!!) The guy barely spoke English. He sent me a return label and I returned the Xbox game with a note explaining the problem. A couple weeks later I got an email indicating they received the return package but they still have NOT REFUNDED my credit card!
To be fair to Amazon I have ordered a considerable amount from them in the past and never had a problem, before now. However, don't expect much help if you ever have a problem with this outfit. I also tried calling the service center where my order was processed, in this case Kentucky; I don't recommend even trying calling those, non give a crap clueless people, they are less than helpful.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 2, 2018This is a great little EDC. I originally ordered the regular sized Griptilian but after watching some reviewers on YouTube, I figured the mini would be better suited as an EDC, especially for someone with smaller hands. I'm glad I went with the smaller one.
The mini Griptilian comes in at under 7 inches when fully extended and weighs about 2.5 oz. The handle is classified as, "Polymer" which is a fancy word for reconstructed plastic. I thought I would hate the handle's material, but I actually love it. Not only does it have no resemblance to plastic, but it is extremely grippy, fits perfectly in my hand and looks great.
The blade is 154 CM steel. Don't know what that is? Its very good steel. It wont dull quickly. It will slice through anything and will maintain its shape. It's also easy to sharpen, making it a knife one can cary for years.
To open the blade is the very best part. Its a drop point knife, which makes flicking it open via wrist or with your thumb super fun. Closing it by pinching the two locks on the handle makes the knife drop like butter.
The clip is fine. It works and feels secure. I may switch to a deep pocket clip but for now, I am satisfied.
This is my first, "premium" knife I've purchased, and I am happy with the steep price I paid for this knife. I would say that this knife is completely worth its price, but proceed at your own risk, as I hear once you buy your first benchmade, you can't stop buying more!

- Reviewed in the United States on March 26, 2010I've had this a few days now. This is my first Benchmade knife and so far it has lived up to all expectations. Fit and finish is superb and the action is glassy smooth. From the factory the tension is just about right to open it with a nudge on the opening stud and a flick of the wrist. The blade locks into place solidly with no movement at all. The Axis lock releases easily with one hand. I read good things about the Axis lock but haven't used the knife enough to comment on them beyond the solid lockup and easy release. The OD green Valox handle feels very dense and hard and I expect it to be durable. The blade is a 2.9" modified drop point with partially serrated edge. Mine is very sharp right out of the box and shaves my forearm hair with no trouble at all. The blade is matte black and looks very good with the green handle. There is a gold Benchmade logo on one side of the blade and the Mel Pardue signature and type of steel, 154CM, on the other. I have read complaints about the jimping on the top and bottom of the knife not being sharp enough. I think it's just about right. You can slide your finger over it easily when applying little pressure but it grips well enough when you apply the kind of pressure you would doing heavy work with the knife. I have large hands and even though my little finger is not on the handle when gripping it for cutting between the jimping and the knurling on the handles it feels very secure. The reversible pocket clip is nice looking and sturdy. Amazon didn't have the best price but it wasn't bad either. I bought from Amazon because delivery is always prompt and I've never had a problem with them. I didn't want to deal with an unknown vendor for a couple of bucks. I'm very happy with the knife and now carry it daily. Anyone looking for a discreet high quality EDC folder should take a look at the Mini-Griptillian. I would definitely recommend this knife.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful sharp blade
Color: Black Grivory - Drop-Point BladeStyle: Plain EdgeVerified PurchaseI have both griptilian mini shapes, and they are both amazing, sharp, small and feel nice.
This one came not so centered and a bit loose, but it’s ok.
I removed the thumbscrew and pocket clip.
I got this one because I thought that if I remove the thumbscrew it would be legal to carry in Germany.
Not sure if it’s the case though as you can still open it one handed by pulling on the mechanism and jerking it open.
