When I got this thing, I almost laughed out loud at how much stuff they packed into it. Solar panel and hand crank for power generation. AM/FM radio. Flashlight. Emergency beacon. Alarm. USB port for charging a cell phone. I wish I had been on the design team - that would've been a lot of fun. The only thing missing is a soda dispenser.

Well, if you're looking for one small, cheap, lightweight device that will give you light, radio, emergency beacon, and in a pinch an ability to get a few % of cell phone charging, then ... here it is. Period.

I do have a higher end version of this type of device, which was more than twice as expensive. It's more rugged than this one, and has a few feature this doesn't (but no beacon). So, if you want one of these for general emergency preparedness, this is not the only option you have. But for basic low-budget multi-functional capability, this thing is GREAT.

PS Don't be naive, though, you can't crank it a few times to charge a cell phone. Be prepared to put in some elbow grease for that

I made an emergency kit for my house and included this in it. I live in the woods and power goes out occasionally. My daughter is little and gets scared in the dark so I opted for this. I especially love that it can charge cell phones. Fortunately I have never had to actually use it but I feel better knowing I have it. I like not having to worry about batteries, the crank feature seems to work great. It is smaller than I expected but I am very happy with the quality.

I made a box and put this item in it along with many other things including a pack of new batteries, one LED flashlight per person in my house. A can opener. Candles. Matches. Playing cards. A small chess game. And I have my first aid kit nearby. I also have a small camping lantern in it.

This was an impulse buy a few months ago when the Ebola outbreak fears hit its peak in the U.S. It is great to have in case of an emergency. I live in a rather large city, so I was able to pick up radio stations quite well on it. I love that it is solar, so you don't have to worry about batteries. You can also hand crank it to give it power. Overall, it is lightweight and wouldn't be a burden to carry around. I love the cellphone charger feature. In a situation where you don't have electricity, that is a must! The flashlight and emergency siren are great features also. The only thing I think it is missing is a weather radio, which I realized would be great to have in a tornado or hurricane situation. The radio stations could be used for that I suppose, but it would be nice to get some direct weather information from it. Other than that, I thought it was a great buy, and I hope that I don't have to use it, but if I do, I will have the peace of mind that I am prepared.

I bought it for the hubby and he was really surprised at what he got! He really like it. We picked up a signal without a problem only after cranking it a few times. He is super excited to use it while working on one of his construction jobs or when we go camping. My 13 year-old was jealous! She wants one for when we go camping so she can charge her phone!
The flashlight is super bright, the siren is loud, and the blinking emergency light should come in handy (hopefully we never need it) in case of an emergency.
It's super lightweight and compact so you don't have to lug it around everywhere. It is quite ergonomic and it seriously won me some huge points with my hubby. He thought it was a very thoughtful gift. :)

I gave this as a gift to my adult son to leave in his vehicle as part of an emergency kjt. He loves it. He played with cranking it and making the radio work, the lights come on, and exploring what else it can do like charge a cell phone. A few days later when we were on the phone he mentioned again how he really likes it. It is attratice, fun and really works. It was a winner for an adult son who could buy himself anything. I'll have to get my daughter one too!

Radio has decent reception, Flashlight pretty good. Flasher useless, Siren also useless (the speaker is very tiny, so it's not very loud). Sounds like a kids' toy. It's much smaller than I thought it would be, but if you look at the dimensions, you will realize that the whole thing is about as long as an average adult male's hand.

Worst part is that the adapters for charging a phone or other external device are a complete joke. Useless.
And that's mostly what I ordered it for, so I am pretty disappointed.

My kids like to play with it at least...... but it sure won't charge my phone in an emergency.

This thing is awesome! Everything works and my husband has been playing with it a lot! We live up in the woods and the power goes out a lot in the winter for mass amounts of time. We don't have telephones except cellphones up here so it's great we can crank-charge our phones! Only problem- the light lens is loose in the ring, but not too bad. It looks as if the mold hinge wasn't long enough to keep it in place. But it's really just a simple super glue fix. Nothing to disgrace the whole product about.

I have had it sitting on my desk near a window (but no direct sun light) for 3 years. Every 3 or 4 months I turn the flash light and the radio on to see if it is still working. And after 3 years, it still works. I have not had to crank it to charge it up as it appears the solar panels do a good job at collecting energy; I think that is impressive. Although, I have not used this item for more than a few minutes, no emergency has come up to where I needed it. (I have also have a small iRonsnow and had it for about the same amount of time. The solar panel on that does not work very well any longer as I needed to crank it up to use it.)
