Product Description

The Paratus 3-Day Operator's Pack is the crown jewel of the 3V Gear backpack line. It all started with our search for a great bug out bag (BOB). Disappointed with the quality and cost of most tactical and military backpacks we decided to create our own.The Paratus 3-Day Operator's Pack is not only the toughest and most versatile military style bug out bag on the planet, but it is comfortable to carry. It does not matter how cool a tactical pack looks unless it feels good when you wear it, right? The Paratus tactical backpack makes long distance hiking or walking easy and comfortable, while the detachable deployment pack and MOLLE pouches allow you to ditch the larger pack for rapid excursions. This makes the Rapid Deployment Pack perfect for keeping your med kit and other essentials. It can also double as a great vehicle bag.

Padded shoulder straps, double stitched seams, self-healing zippers, 600D PVC backed polyester and almost 2,500 cubic inches of storage space make the Paratus 3-Day Operator's Pack the best military or tactical style backpack. Military spec MOLLE adorns most of the bag allowing you limitless options for attachments and arrangements.

The Deployment Pack is fully MOLLE compatible and will attach to any MOLLE pack, vest or other gear. This compact pack has a convenient grab handle or it can be carried with the concealable waist/shoulder belt. Perfect for when you need to grab your kit and go or for 100 other possible uses, i.e. first aid kits, ammo bags, climbing harnesses, survival kits, or other emergency situations.

The Ability To Carry Max Gear With Max Comfort. A+

The Ability To Carry Max Gear With Max Comfort. A+
Okay, let me get right down to it. Best. Backpack. Ever. So far, so good. After only a few days, I've been able to transfer the gear that I have from one of my tiny as a thimble, fit only for a small child, bugout bag into this one. Even though my bag weighs quite a bit right now, once it's on my back, I don't have a problem with moving around and carrying it is nearly effortless. Just to let those of you on the fence about it know, this thing is a monster. I mean it's "monstrous big" and roomy. The butt-pack fit my entire first aid kit and then some. The side pockets hold so much that I'm hard pressed to overfill them. The front compartment holds my mess kit (one for me and the wife) and a whole lotta other stuff as well. Then there's the main compartment which holds my emergency shelter, clothing, fire kit, food ration bars, etc. The 600D nylon is pretty beefy. Granted, it's not as beefy as a Maxpedition but it is completely serviceable. It works. It's hardcore. Then there's the double stitching...yeah baby. The padded back is a breath of fresh air. It's not sitting against your back letting you know it's there. It's nice and comfortable and the air flow channels will keep your back from sweating through your clothing like crazy. The padding on the straps doesn't feel thin by any stretch. They actually feel comfortable. All in all, I can't really find any real issues with maybe one exception. The MOLLE webbing placement. Having to add modular pouches right above or below existing pouches can be a bit of an irritation because one pouch will get in the way of another unless you remove it. Not a dealbreaker. It's something I can just deal with but I might have added a little right where the blank spots are on the front compartment. Despite it's rather minor con, I still think this bag has earned five stars and lives up to it's hype. You're not going to find anything better for the price that will allow you to create a hybrid Bugout/INCH bag. It's a definite A+ grade to me.

I was expecting to get a lower end pack to keep for short hikes and simple trips, but the pack I received FAR exceeds my expectations. I read the reviews of others and took a chance with this, but now that I can actually use it, I'm impressed.
As a USMC veteran I have used many types of military packs from the old ACLICE packs through both MOLLE 1 and 2, and I believe this is the single best Patrol sized pack I've ever had. It's lighter than an ALICE pack, has MOLLE webbing all over it, the zippers and seam construction are solid and the ergonomics are perfect for my body. Shoulder straps are not only adjustable, but the tension web attaches OVER the top of the main ruk pulling the rear forward, ensuring the load is higher on the shoulders and takes a lot of weight off the cervical spine. The Butt Pack is brilliant! It has multiple pockets and dividers, cinch straps and integral (yet removable) waist belt. Secures firmly with MOLLE straps to anywhere on the pack you want it, and I discovered it even has a web loop on either side that are perfect for hanging a tactical tomahawk or long handled implement (like an old style entrenching shovel). The smaller main pack compartment is pleated to allow for expansion, and holds a TON of gear.

As far as the "Not Awesome": The two larger side pouches have velcro MOLLE straps, not snaps, so if you don't secure them perfectly, they could get snagged and tear free. This will be a simple fix for me with a $5 snap replacement kit from Joann Fabrics. Not a deal breaker, but not consistent with the quality of the rest of the pack. Also in this category, the hydration pocket is large enough to accommodate a 3 liter (100 oz.) bladder, but has no hanger or loop to hold the top of the bladder up so it could slouch down and kink off. Again, not a huge deal, if the main compartment is filled it will pretty much hold the bladder in place anyhow.

On to "I'd really wish it had"... A Sternum Strap. That would make this rig damned near perfect. The straps are comfortable with 40 pounds in the pack, but a sternum strap helps keep the weight from pulling backwards or the straps from moving off.
The padding on the waist belt for the main pack is very light. I haven't taken it on extended hikes yet, but suspect it will bite a bit over long periods. That need improvement, and the waist belt for the butt pack has no padding whatsoever, so if that component were used individually, it would have to be very light.

Overall, I give this pack a big thumbs up. Between the nice heavy weight nylon shell, the multitude of positive features, and the amazing price point, I am very satisfied. A Keeper!

This is a great pack. I bought two of them through SupplySergeant. They arrived promptly and were packaged appropriately with no damage en route.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS: Out of the box this pack has a great feel to it: the woven material and the seamage are substantial; the zippers are heavy duty and have paracord pulls on them. This gives the pack a very durable feel.
ADJUSTABILITY: Although some reviews seemed to indicate that there is no chest strap, there were chest straps on the two packs I purchased. However, for "adult small"-sized individuals or below the chest strap will not add much. Even tightened fully, it was barely effective on my 15 year old and slack when closed on my 14 year old. Otherwise, the shoulder straps were able to be adjusted nicely on them for proper carrying position. The plastic buckles and hasps are substantial (in keeping with the overall feel of the pack) and there are rubber keepers on the straps to help keep them from slipping. Six front-to-back horizontal straps allow you to "compress" the pack once it's loaded. There is a waist belt as well which is padded around the outside hips and has a pastic hasp in the front.
CONFIGURATION: The two side and one under-compartments are completely and easily removable. The undercompartment has its own belt, and so could be worn as a fanny pack or possibly a sling pack. It has smaller pockets in it suitable for pens/pencils, compasses, etc. The removable compartments are MOLLE compatible, and can be relocated to the back of the pack or to another pack altogether. Inside the main pack, there is a separate compartment for a water system (with a drinking tube hole) and another separate larger compartment, but there are no pockets for small items inside the main pack. If your gear includes small tools or items, you will either have to plan on using the under-compartment or figuring out some other way to keep the smaller items together. The main pack is pretty spacious but can be compressed for day-hikes where you have less food and clothing to carry. For a multi-day hike I'd probably put my sleep system underneath instead of inside the pack.
EXTRAS: MOLLE webbing on the back, velcro for ID or emblem placement, convenient handle on the top of the pack, sturdy D-rings on the front of the shoulder straps along with some webbing that's a convenient place to clip a water tube.

    PROS:
    Very sturdy construction all around
Easy to scale up or down depending on length of your outing and quantity of gear you need to haul
    CONS:
A little on the smaller side for a 3-day pack (this could be a "pro" if you only plan to use on day-hikes)
No small compartments in the main pack

Overall this is a great pack for the price. I would purchase again and probably will when my two 11 year olds are ready for a more serious pack.
