A dependable pocket knife is one of the most-used tools in any preparedness kit, and the best ones are simple. That's the approach Bear Edge Knives took with its new 4-inch Light Gray Aluminum Folder, reported by Athlon Outdoors.
The blade is a 3-inch modified drop point in 440 stainless steel, which the company pitches as a balance of edge retention, rust resistance and easy sharpening. That combination suits a knife that lives in a pocket, glovebox or go-bag and may need a touch-up away from home. You can open it with either a flipper or a thumb stud, a useful choice when your hands are cold or gloved, and a liner lock holds the blade open while you work.
The light gray aluminum handle keeps weight down to 3.2 ounces, and its smooth finish is meant to avoid snagging when you pocket or draw it. A removable metal clip sets it up for tip-up carry. It's not a survival knife for heavy chopping, but for everyday cutting chores, cordage and opening supplies, it's an affordable folder to keep on you.
